ACADEMICS

We have completed the first half of the first semester of our academic year. This is an important milepost as it marks that we have consumed about 25 percent of the 2007-08 school year, and this is time that we have invested and cannot be recaptured. Student progress reports were distributed to the students on Friday, November 2, 2007, and parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for November 5-9, 2007.

At this point, it is essential that all students ask themselves some very important questions:

• What big ideas have I learned in each of my subject areas?
• Why are these ideas important and how can they be used?
• What am I doing well in and in what areas do I need to improve?
• What do I need to do and what kind of assistance can I get to improve?
• Am I proud of my behavior at school – if not, how can I improve?

ATTENDANCE

Also, school attendance is so important for every student.  Not only will your child learn so much by being in school everyday, good attendance and hard work helps to instill a great work ethic for later on in life.  We appreciate your efforts in getting your child/children to school on time every day.

As the year goes on, we know some children may miss school due to illness or family emergencies. However, we would like for them to be here as much as possible. If your child does stay home due to illness or any other reason, please call the attendance line @ 631-3165.

SAFETY

For safety’s sake, we are asking our students to follow these simple guidelines:

§ No play fighting

§ No rubber bands

§ No earrings larger than a quarter

Thank you for your support in these important matters. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the school or stop by.
