Welcome to Emerson Middle School:
This is my first year as the principal at Emerson Middle School; however, I’m not a stranger to the students, staff or community. I was the vice-principal at Emerson for three years before becoming the Principal at John C. Fremont Elementary, in Bakersfield, last year.
Emerson Middle School continues to make academic growth as measured by the Academic Performance Index (API). The target growth for Emerson last year was nine points. The school’s actual growth at the end of the year was forty-seven points. The students and staff are working extremely hard everyday to meet the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) goals set forth by No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
In addition, to utilizing the district’s adopted curriculum, Emerson also has innovative technology in all the classrooms that is designed for effective teaching and learning. We also have six teachers involved in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program that work with students to support their learning while ensuring that they have the necessary skills to be successful academically.
As the principal of Emerson Middle School I would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all community members interested in visiting the Emerson campus. Please come by and see some of the wonderful things that take place in “Eagle Country”.
The only place you are going to find success before work is in the dictionary.
